Why is "no plastic bottle" important to us?
This isn't going to surprise anyone but - plastic is bad for the environment. We know, this isn't new information and if you ask anyone they would be able to tell you that plastic sucks. If you do a quick google search you will find some pretty scary facts about plastic and our environment like:
More than 100 million plastic bottles are used worldwide every day and an estimated 1,500 plastic bottles end up as waste in landfills or thrown in the ocean every second!
Plastic stays in our environment for years and technically, it's made to last forever. It takes 1 PET plastic bottle 700 years to start decomposing and even still almost every piece of plastic ever made still exists on the planet in some form of waste. Plastic also has a direct impact on our wildlife. Thousands of seabirds and sea turtles, seals and other marine mammals are killed each year after ingesting plastic or getting entangled in it and even still we dump billions of pounds of plastic waste into the ocean every year. Now that's all pretty terrible but what do we do? How do we change? Even though this information is readily available it seems like every product you currently find on the shelves still seems to be covered in....(you guessed it) PLASTIC. These products are in bottles they have labels, caps, seals etc. We can't keep filling the store shelves with more plastic and hoping that it's then being recycled. This tactic just isn't working so what do we do?....This is the part in the sales pitch where someone would say "there has to be a better way"!! Well, now there is.......pssstttt we're talking about us, PetStrips.
